The Density and Ocean Water Exit Slip is used during the concept development lesson plan to make sure the students understood the concepts discovered and can make real world connections.
In the choice lesson plan, students will use a blank sheet of paper to copy the ocean layers handout on. On this sheet of paper they will also research three organisms that live in each layer of the ocean and write characteristics for each layer in order to show comprehension of the material.
In the inquiry lesson plan, students will ultimately be answering the question of which technique used today is the most efficient way to combat beach erosion. They will discover how each technique affects the environment and make connections to the real world with erosion and deposition.
This is a rubric for an essay the students will write at the end of the unit plan. They should involve all the information we have learned about water and how it affects the environment from the point of view of a droplet of water. They will be able to show their creative side in the journey of a droplet of ocean water from ocean to shore.
